Marjorie Rawls Roberts

Marjorie Rawls Roberts, known as “Jorie,” is an attorney in private practice in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Her firm, Marjorie Rawls Roberts, P.C., has six attorneys who specialize in tax, corporate and securities law, and business law in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Marjorie Rawls Roberts, P.C. was formed in 1999.

Ms. Roberts moved to the U.S. Virgin Islands in 1988 and served as Chief Counsel to the U.S. Virgin Islands Bureau of Internal Revenue and General Counsel, Vice President, and Director for Globalvest Management Company, LP, a St. Thomas based investment company, before starting her firm. She is admitted to practice law in California, Washington, D.C. (inactive), the U.S. Virgin Islands, and before the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Tax Court and is licensed as a solicitor in England and Wales and in the British Virgin Islands. Her firm is rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell and Ms. Roberts is one of four “Band 1” attorneys in the U.S. Virgin Islands as ranked by Chambers and Partners. Ms. Roberts also serves on the Board of the Reichhold Center for the Arts at the University of the Virgin Islands, the Board of Fonkoze USA (microfinance in Haiti), the Board of the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands, and the Board of Lutheran Social Services. Ms. Roberts also served on the Governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands’ Recovery Task Force. Ms. Roberts has served as Counsel to the Bambu Fund LLC since 2017.

Ms. Roberts attended the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and graduated from Smith College Magna Cum Laude with High Honors in History (B.A. 1977), where she was admitted to Phi Beta Kappa. She holds law degrees from Harvard University (J.D. 1980), Cambridge University (LL.B. 1981), and New York University (LL.M. (executive) in Tax 2016).
